Raku Moon Vessel - Ember

$700.00

I built this vase round, almost like a full moon, with a single small opening at the top. It's raku fired, which means I pull it from the kiln while it's still glowing and let the smoke do the rest. You can see where the flame caught it - the black, the bits of copper and rust coming through the clay. I don't get to decide exactly how that lands, and I like that about it.

It's hand built, no mold, no wheel. This shape only exists once.

It's meant to sit somewhere you'll see it every day - a shelf, a table, wherever the light shifts across it.

One of a kind. It's decorative, not watertight.

DETAILS:
Hand-built stoneware
Raku fired (smoky black surface with copper and rust flashing)
Rounded moon form with a single opening at the top
Highly textured, mottled surface
Organic, sculptural form
Style: brutalist, organic modern, wabi-sabi, Japandi
Function: decorative vessel / sculptural object
