Anna Shipulina is a Los Angeles based ceramic artist creating one-of-a-kind sculptural ceramic vases, vessels, and wall installations for interior designers, hospitality spaces, and private collectors.
Each piece is a statement object, made to be looked at, not past. Contemporary forms in natural clay — specified, commissioned, and lived with.

No molds. No replication. No production.
Only the moment when the material responds — or resists.
Working with stoneware, I build each form by hand, allowing it to emerge slowly. Imperfection is not corrected. It is kept.
Featured Work
This is a hand-built vase in white stoneware — a sculptural clay that fires to the sandy color with no glaze at all. Texture is the whole point of this piece. The clay already has a lot of grit and movement in it, and I built up even more across the top, so the surface breaks into rough, cratered patches that catch the light and shift as the sun moves through the room.
It's a large piece, meant to hold a room on its own — a statement vase for an entryway, a big table, a mantel, a pedestal in a gallery-like space. It reads well in a pared-back interior where the texture can do the talking, and it holds its own next to raw materials like wood, stone, and linen.
Hand built, no mold, no wheel. The shape is a little off-round and top-heavy on purpose — I like when a form looks like it's holding its balance.
One of a kind. Decorative, not watertight.
New sculpture in the “Intuitive Built” collection. Pieces in this collection are made intuitively. I don’t have a plan, just a general idea of what I’m making and go with the flow. The result is a unique sculptural piece that is one of its kind.

Contemporary ceramic wall sculpture in unglazed textured clay.
A single ribbon of stoneware moving down the wall like a line drawn in air, caught mid-motion. The form is restrained and rhythmic, equal parts stillness and flow.
Hand-built from the ground up in my Los Angeles studio. Finished unglazed to preserve the natural warmth, grain, and subtle variation of the clay — the material doing the talking.
One of a kind. Because every piece is built from scratch, no two are ever identical; small shifts in curve, surface, and tone are the trace of the hand.

This work is part of a limited collection of six “ribbon” sculptures. Each piece has its own unique character, rhythm, and movement, shaped individually by hand.
I'm a Los Angeles–based ceramic artist working in sculptural, hand-built forms. My work is held in private collections and interior design projects across the US and worldwide.
Large sculptural vase with wire detail. Hand built using clay coil from red stoneware clay. Fired at 2381 degrees Fahrenheit.
The vase is a part of my latest collection of mixed media ceramics where I add wire to my vessels. The surface of the vase is very textured and tactile.
Unglazed, suitable for dry foliage.
